Director, Information and Cyber Security

130 to 150K plus 30% bonus


Our client, a leader in the Financial Services industry, is currently seeking a Director of Information and Cyber Security. This is an exciting new role that reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is responsible for the oversight and execution of our client’ s Information Security Program, including cyber security. In addition this role is responsible for the Project Governance Office which ensures that proper controls and procedures are in place in the execution of projects. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establish and implement information security related polices and processes
  • Ensure regulatory as well as Enterprise wide policy compliance
  • Ensure data privacy
  • Oversee and modify the organization' s security architecture, as required
  • Oversight of identity and access management
  • Ensure that best practices are in place and are being followed
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of global cyber threats and assess implications
  • Run the monthly Information Technology Executive Committee and make recommendations regarding ongoing or potential constraints and their impact on project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain consistent and transparent standards of reporting to enable ITEC to make informed decisions regarding project approvals and priorities.
  • Maintain and update templates on behalf of the PGO
  • Revisit processes for prioritization of projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain process for Post Implementation Reviews and Project Audits
  • Continuously review project management methodology against best practices
  • Oversight and Leadership of the PGO Office as well as the Information Security Office


  • You should have strong relationship, management and communication skills to be able maintain rapport with senior level executives, senior management, business partners and peers across the organization.
  • In addition you should have strong technical skills having worked in a systems environment, preferably within financial services, and within the information/cyber security area.
  • You should have knowledge of organizational project portfolio management methods, governance frameworks and processes required to support continuous monitoring of a project portfolio and the execution of initiatives.
  • You should have strong proven leadership abilities and have demonstrated the ability to build a broad network of collaboration through mutual support, assistance and information exchange.
  • You should have demonstrated the ability to work under pressure.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior capacity within Cyber and Information Security.
  • A minimum of 3 years mutual fund or financial services experience with exposure to Project Management / Governance.
  • In addition, a minimum of 3 years of experience in leading and advancing teams.
  • 4 year University/College Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Current security certifications such as CISSIP, GIAC CISM, SSCP would be an asset
  • PMP designation would also be considered an asset
