Our client’s investment team generates investment ideas from around the world – in virtually every investment class and category.  In this exciting role you'll be joining one of the largest and most accomplished teams of portfolio managers, analysts and traders in the industry.  Reporting to the Head of the Portfolio Services Group, the Portfolio Services Group Analyst will be responsible for supporting a team of Portfolio Managers with the implementation of their portfolios. The Portfolio Services Group (“PSG”) acts as a conduit between the Portfolio Managers and other business areas including trading, compliance, fund accounting and investment operations teams. This successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day to day needs of various investment professionals within Canada and abroad.

               Job Description

  • Provide an exceptional experience for our Portfolio Managers and our clients by delivering solutions that exceed expectations
  • Partner with trading team members globally in other divisions and business units
  • Identify opportunities and challenges facing the trading desk Portfolio Services Group and ensure these views are communicated effectively
  • Partner with the Head of the Portfolio Services Group to develop and implement high quality and efficient investment operations that drive performance improvements
  • Make insightful decisions by analyzing opportunities, risks, and their impact on the business
  • Interact with Compliance, Risk and Legal departments on investment operations matters
  • Advise on high level risk exposures and become involved with trading, research, and portfolio management to mitigate risks
  • Review and analyze daily cash flows and large deal warnings. Where necessary communicate to relevant Portfolio Managers and compile any necessary trade lists taking into account PM instructions, fund restrictions, client requirements and current cash levels.
  • Deal with other cash management issues such as overdrafts, high cash, market settlement issues and restricted currencies
  • Monitor for any Pre-Trade Compliance alerts, investigate and clear as required
  • Review outstanding corporate actions, investigate tax issues and ensure timely response from Portfolio Managers
  • Provide support and advice with regards to projects such as launches, mergers and new market processes

 

               Qualifications  

     

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the investment industry, ideally supporting a team of investment professionals
  • University degree

You will have experience in an asset management organization in investment operations, compliance, or fund administration

  • You will demonstrate strong analytical and computer skills, attention to detail and a keen interest in the investment process
  • You must have the credibility and professional presence to interact effectively with investment professionals at all levels of experience
  • You must be able to prioritize, work under pressure and demonstrate a commitment to your team
