Our client, one of the leading law firms is looking to add Patent Litigation Assistants to their downtown Ottawa team. If you are a recent grad with 1 year of experience or an experienced Patent Litigation Assistant this team is fun and always busy! The ideal candidate should be well-organised, proactive, flexible, with strong work ethics, self motivated and willing to get trained on the job. The main responsibility is to provide secretarial and administrative support for the IP Department (Litigation)-including drafting, reviewing and finalizing correspondence; proofreading patent applications; preparing documentation associated with the filing of patent applications, etc. Arranging for court reporters and order copies of transcripts. Performing duties associated with litigation practices such as assisting counsel with trial preparation; organizing documentation and sending required materials to opposing counsel; maintaining book of pleadings; prepares court documents, etc. Performing client account administration which includes receiving, reviewing, editing and drafting e-pre-bills; preparing invoices for review by legal professionals; receiving and preparing accounts for finalization and preparing subsequent correspondence and addressing client inquiries regarding billings; receiving and preparing monthly summary statement of certain client invoices; arranging for approval and payment of foreign associates’ invoices. Performs other duties as assigned.

Working hours: 9am-5pm
