Our client is a tier 1 supplier of  aerostructure components and assemblies.They are  seeking to recruit an Environment Health & Safety Coordinator in Cambridge, Ontario. The salary offered is in the range of  CAD 50-60K per annum+Benefits.

Position Summary:

The EH&S Coordinator will serve as the primary implementer for health, safety, and environmental programs and processes. Based out of the Cambridge, ON facility, the EH&S Manager works with our operations leadership to ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation as well as company requirements and to reduce risk of injury to team members and meet environmental protection obligations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accident prevention programs such as lockout, machine guarding, fall protection, electrical safety, ergonomics, exposure monitoring, hazard communication, and behavioral based safety program.
  • Assists with the completion of work place audits, industrial hygiene surveys, and development, delivery and documentation of training courses.
  • Development and delivery of site-specific focused EH&S training and education;
  • Provide strategic support to the operations leadership developing training and inspection tools to support robust site EHS programs.
  • Plan and direct EHS activities and programs; establish priority for project execution based upon site resources and cost of implementation.
  • Act as a key channel for ensuring timely communication of significant site activities and events
  • Support site execution of tactical initiatives in order to eliminate hazards and risks. Drive continuous EHS performance improvement.
  • Advise management team on EHS compliance requirements.
  • Maintains all environmental permit reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Leads the EH&S incident investigation/root cause analysis.
  • Conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed and new equipment introductions.
  • Support initiatives in the reduction of WSIB costs through accident prevention.
  • Influence change initiatives in order to develop and continuously improve the Company’ s health and safety systems.

Experience and Education:
  • Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Safety Degree preferred
  • 5-8 years as a Health Safety Environmental Coordinator required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Well-developed writing and verbal skills sufficient to design, deliver, and communicate training, rules, and procedures; to solve problems and resolve conflict; to investigate incidents; and prepare compliance reports
  • The ability to respond quickly to incidents and take appropriate action to assure team members of their safety.
  • Work experience in a behavior based safety environment.
  • Understanding of ergonomics.
  • Understanding of basic LEAN principles.
  • A thorough knowledge of provincial and federal legislation affecting environmental, health, and safety.
  • The ability to convert safety, health and environmental program goals into plant-specific action plans.
